Emotional support is vital for your mental health when you are going through difficult times.


Person-centred therapy provides you with a sensitive, understanding approach that can help you accept or deal with your issues, difficulties or illness. When you start talking about your anxieties and fears; and get comfort from a sympathetic, caring, non-judgemental person; it increases your ability to care for yourself. Emotional support can come from family or friends; however, a professional can focus only on you.


Sometimes we feel embarrassed to ask for help. This should not be the case. I believe that the ability to talk about our problem honestly, without feeling ashamed, without the need of showing a mask, is easier to a stranger. Everybody needs to be cared for and nurtured. It does not matter in what form or shape the emotional support comes, what important it, that it helps you to deal with life challenges.


Emotional support can increase longevity, improve psychological function and cause improvement to immune system function. Yes, our mind and body are connected. We cannot separate them. If you want to know more about body-mind connections, keep your eyes open for my following blogs.
