Inner Child Healing

In an ideal world, our childhood was magical, full of stories, playing and freedom. We were well looked after and loved. We felt safe and secure. The best time of our life.

However, this scenario is a fairy tale for many people. Many witnessed or suffered from neglect and violence or still carry unresolved emotional wounds, addiction, or mental illness. They feel disappointed most of their lives and grieve their childhood.

We can’t go back and change our childhood. However, as adults, we can heal these wounds and love ourselves as we want to be loved as children.

We can heal our inner child and live more fully as an adult.

Therapy can help

Therapy is helpful to learn how to become a kind parent to ourselves and relearn to care, love and protect ourselves through small, daily practices. This is called reparenting; we recognise our needs and fulfil them.

Another way of healing is protecting ourselves from harm and not causing ourselves harm. Getting out of toxic relationships and learning to stand up for ourselves is the first step. We must consider whether we are harming ourselves in any way, such as abusing alcohol, eating too much or too little or taking drugs. We must look for our triggers, too.

We can introduce joy without guilt when we are in tune with ourselves. Try anything you missed out on or want to discover now. Whether dancing, painting, games, jigsaws, making music, pottery, rock climbing, or colouring, it`s your choice now.

I can help you connect with your inner child, heal it, reparent it and connect with your true self.
