What is online therapy?
Urmston Hypnotherapy offers online therapy services. Online therapy is hypnotherapy or talking therapy via the Internet. The online sessions are not audio sessions! You can talk to your therapist by using technology, like your phone or laptop. It is advantageous to have a camera, so your therapist can follow the emotional changes that you are going through.
Online therapy is delivered in real-time. Current research shows that online therapy can be a beneficial and efficient way of helping with mental health issues. I would recommend you to attend one or two face-to-face sessions if possible before starting the online therapy; but if you are not able to visit my therapy setting, online therapy can still be very useful and beneficial to you.
What do you need to access online therapy?
You will need a reliable and safe online media to receive therapy. I recommend using Zoom. You can book your appointment via phone or email then I will send you an invitation via Zoom to confirm your booking.
Why choose online therapy?
The main benefits of online therapy are that it is cost-effective and accessible. If you are living in a remote area, if you are very busy with work, or if you find it difficult to leave your home, you can still have access to therapy. It provides solutions for geographical, linguistic, cultural and time difficulties.
Can we talk about anything?
For topics, please check the Confidentiality Policy on the website. Online therapy is more limited than face-to-face therapy, but it is very beneficial for coping with anxiety. Online relaxation sessions can ease your anxiety, and I can teach you some coping methods for everyday use.
Is it safe to use online therapy?
You are always in control; however, technology is never 100% reliable. I will send you an invitation with a code through Zoom to attend the therapy session at the agreed time. You have to make sure that you are in a safe and comfortable environment where you will not be overheard or disturbed during your session. I will provide you with “troubleshooting” methods before we start our session.
Is online therapy anonymous?
No. You must accept our Data Management and Retention Policy, Social Media Policy, sign a contract and provide us with some personal information as a preparation for emergencies.
Can I contact you any time and day?
No, online therapy appointments are scheduled in advance like face-to-face therapies. Please call or email me for appointments.
How do I pay for the therapy?
The invoice will be sent to you by email, just follow the instructions and pay online.
Are you qualified to provide online therapy?
Yes, I have a specialist qualification in Online Therapy, so I have a full understanding of the delivery, ethics and contra-indications of this type of work.
